BUSK! is a character-driven documentary that delves deep into the lives and aspirations of three artists who share their art on the streets. Many other artists, including those who participated in the Buskapalooza Street Performance Festival, also share their busking experiences, as well as their philosophies on art that reaches beyond the walls of a gallery, theater, or concert hall.
To raise funds and garner community support, a trailer was created to emphasize the pace, spirit, setting, and characters in the documentary feature “BUSK! – The Heart of Street Performance.” The trailer’s effectiveness resulted in a 501(c)3 fiscal sponsorship, a grant, a successful crowdfunding campaign, 1 radio interview, 2 newspaper interviews, 3 television interviews, and 9 magazine interviews.
This project has received a grant from the NC Arts Council, a division of the Department of Cultural Resources, the Blumenthal Endowment, and the arts council of Cabarrus, Cleveland, Gaston, Iredell, Mecklenburg, Rowan, Rutherford, and York (SC) counties. It is also fiscally sponsored by Aubin Pictures, a not-for-profit (501c3) documentary media production company in New York City focused on arts, culture, and social justice issues.
Runtime: 42 minutes. HD 16:9. Color. Stereo. Produced by March Blake Media, the movie premiered May 19, 2013 at McGlohon Theater and is now on IMDB. For more information, please visit the movie’s website at http://buskmovie.com.
